  Abstract:

In this note we provide upper bounds for the standard deviation $ left( sigma (X)right) ,$ for the quantity $ sigma ^{2}(X)+(x-mathbb{E}(X))^{2}$ and for the $ L^{p}$ absolute deviation of a random variable. These improve and extend current results in the literature. ;
