>> Information for prospective authors =================================== Submission: ----------- To submit a new manuscript to MPEJ, send an e-mail message to mpej@maia.ub.es which includes a line of the form FORWARD: NAME where NAME is the name of an MPEJ editor, in the form "John Doe" (without the quotes), or "J. Doe", or "J Doe", or simply "Doe", if not ambiguous. Alternatively, the NAME can be specified by putting "forward NAME" in the "Subject:" line (part of the mail header) of your e-mail message. If your message contains all the necessary information (see below) then it will be forwarded to the specified editor, and you will get a reply from MPEJ that contains the number assigned to your manuscript (of the form "MPEJ YY-NN", where YY is the year and NN a positive integer). Otherwise, you will get a reply specifying what information was missing. The following line is needed as well SUBJECT: new manuscript In addition, you should specify a (comma separated) list of keywords, by including one or more lines of the form KEYWORDS: comma, separated, list of, keywords and a (comma separated) list of authors, by including one or more lines of the form AUTHORS: Comm A., Sparat E.-D. , l'Ist O.F., Author S. The order of these lines is not important, but they are recognized only if they begin with the appropriate key word (SUBJECT:, AUTHORS:, ...). Up to here, lines that do not begin with one of these key words are ignored by the software, but not by the editor (see below). The end of your e-mail message must look as follows: (Note that TITLE:, ABSTRACT:, ..., must be on a line of their own.) TITLE: Anything found here, on the lines between the two lines "TITLE:" and "ABSTRACT:", is considered the title of your paper. ABSTRACT: Similarly, this should be the first line of your abstract, and this the second line, etc. The following line "PAPER:" marks the end of the abstract. PAPER: The Postscript file containing your paper should be included here, between the lines "PAPER:" and "ENDPAPER:". This may include supplementary material (see below) as well as the article proper. ENDPAPER: Here, it is important that the input follow the line describing it. A good place for including a letter to the Editor is between the "SUBJECT:" line and the "KEYWORDS:" lines. ----------------------------------- The following is a template (xxxx is Text, zzzz is Postscript): FORWARD: xxxx SUBJECT: new manuscript Dear xxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx KEYWORDS: xxxx, xx xxx, xxxxxx, xxx AUTHORS: xxxxx, xxxxx, xxxxx, xxxxx TITLE: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ABSTRACT: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PAPER: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ENDPAPER: ----------------------------------- Manuscript format: ----------------- The actual paper has to be submitted in the form of a *** SINGLE POSTSCRIPT FILE *** (for supplements, see below). The title page has to contain the title of the paper, name(s) and affiliation of the author(s), and an abstract. Optional: following the abstract you could add keywords; and the title page may also contain a footnote acknowledging support by funding agencies. After that, eject a page, i.e., Section 1 starts on page 2. Important: Leave 10.3cm of white space from the top edge of the paper to the upper end of the title for the A4 format and 8.8cm for the Legal format at the beginning of the title page. (Once the paper gets accepted, this space will be used by us to put the MPEJ logo, volume and paper number etc.) For papers that are generated from a TeX source, a line like the following near the top of the TeX file will produce the necessary space: \hsize=16.0truecm\vsize=22.5truecm\vglue6.3truecm The layout of the paper is left to the authors. We do not impose any particular style, nor do we provide any macros to make the paper. The only thing to keep in mind is that your paper will be printed both in A4 format (29.8cm x 21.0cm) and in Legal format (27.9 x 21.6cm), so do not make the pages too wide or too tall. The references should be grouped at the end of the paper. We encourage full citations, i.e., with title, and beginning and end pages. For references to MPEJ articles, we suggest the format [D] J. Doe: Title of Paper, Math. Phys. EJ 1, No.1, 8pp. (1995). Supplements: ----------- Authors may supply, together with the article proper, one or several "supplements". These supplements will go through the refereeing procedure as part of the full paper, but will not automatically be forwarded to subscribers, once they are accepted. The editors imagine that supplements contain listings of computer programs, graphical or animated material, data, or similar material, which is important and useful for the understanding of the paper. In no case can MPEJ be considered a depository for extensive data files, and furthermore, supplements will only be considered if submitted and accepted together with the text proper. In particular, an "Erratum" is not a supplement to an article, but has to be submitted as a paper of its own, and will be refereed. The intention of these rules is to avoid inclusion of any unrefereed material in MPEJ. For submission to MPEJ (by e-mail), the article plus supplements have to be converted to a single ASCII file by first using a compression and archiving utility (tar and compress, zip, or gzip) and then uuencode . Among the supplementary files should be one named INDEX that contains a short description of the content of each file in the supplements.
