On a problem of Osserman concerning the Jacobi operator

Abstract: We report on some recent results on the study of semi-Riemannian manifolds whose Jacobi operators have constant eigenvalues. Special attention is paid to the indefinite case, mainly to metrics of signature $(+ + - -)$.
