Abstract: An effective method is proposed for solving boundary-value problems for linear equations using complete systems of conservation laws, (i.e., the systems uniquely determining the solution by the boundary conditions). The ideas of the principal method are illustrated by one of the equations of the filtration theory.

Keywords: Generating function of conservation law, complete system of conservation laws, Sturm-Liouville problem
