Abstract

We obtain the general solution and the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of the general cubic-quartic functional equation for fixed integers k with 𝑘 0 , ± 1 : 𝑓 ( 𝑥 + 𝑘 𝑦 ) + 𝑓 ( 𝑥 𝑘 𝑦 ) = 𝑘 2 ( 𝑓 ( 𝑥 + 𝑦 ) + 𝑓 ( 𝑥 𝑦 ) ) + 2 ( 1 𝑘 2 ) 𝑓 ( 𝑥 ) + ( ( 𝑘 4 𝑘 2 ) / 4 ) ( 𝑓 ( 2 𝑦 ) 8 𝑓 ( 𝑦 ) ) + 𝑓 ( 2 𝑥 ) 1 6 𝑓 ( 𝑥 ) , where 𝑓 ( 𝑥 ) = 𝑓 ( 𝑥 ) + 𝑓 ( 𝑥 ) .
